Since the thought of cutting through the top part of the dash. Iv not given this a go, and neither have I done it for a client. The proper windscreen probably makes a difference but I don't think its 100% necessary. Not sure if anyone's done it before but there are apps on smartphones which can act as a HUD and are designed to reflect the image onto the windscreen. give a bit of 'leeway' to ensure you don't cut too large and keep trimming till its a snug fit.Īs for the windscreen. Otherwise you will need to measure out the hole you want to cut. replacing the dash would be the best idea. Now the two parts which everyone gets hung up on. I can fire it up on the bench without any issues.

Otherwise the main wires need to be tapped into the body loom (Power and communication).Īs for programming, none needed. A section of wiring needs to be replaced if I recall if wanting plug and play. I personally haven't checked but I do not believe there is. no-ones buying and fitting the.įirst up, I don't thing there is wiring under there. These HUDs are starting to become cheaper and readily available from wreckers since. Im yet to see anyone actually give it a whirl. The question is whether the harnesses are there already.Click to expand.Oh I like this topic. That would be it.AFAIK maybe would need to put in a fuse. I have not found the connector or harness close to the overhead opening. One may need to then drop the headliner to access. If so, it is probably taped back in the headliner. I believe there are three harnesses there (one is for the HUD controls if connected). One could pop out the panel to see if the harness is there.

The harness for the controls runs back to the right sail panel. The controls for the HUD (2 piece control & switch) are placed in the overhead unit.

One needs to pull the speedometer cluster to see if the harness is there for the HUD unit to plug in to. Have you ever seen a HUD installed in a PA?

The HUD unit will need a different top dash pad (or modify existing) & plastic bezel trim piece (probably not absolutely needed unless you want the factory finish). I can give a little info, but have not yet done it myself. I remember a thread on someone doing it some 5+ years ago I think it was a different forum.
